A smartwatch as a gift for a child

A kids smartwatch is a gift that delights the child and reassures the parents. Because it runs on a SIM and an app on the parents' phone, though, it needs a quick chat before you wrap it. Worth knowing if you are a godparent, aunt or grandparent.

What to look for

Talk to the parents first

Parents manage the watch from their phone: contacts, location, school hours. Ask them before you buy so it is something they want too.

The SIM is not in the box

The watch needs a nano-SIM with data and call minutes, which is not included. Parents usually take care of it, since they will pay for the plan.

For any occasion

Birthdays, name days, Christmas, the Easter candle gift or the start of the school year. At the start of the year the watch is useful from day one.

Returns if it is not right

As with any distance purchase in the EU, you can withdraw within 14 days of delivery. Keep the order number and see the terms on our returns page.

Setup tips

  1. Ask the parents which colour the child likes and whether they want video calls.
  2. If you want to hand it over ready to use, ask the parents to prepare the SIM and do the app pairing together on their phone. Our first-setup guide has every step.
  3. For a more personal gift, add a second strap in another colour. Ask us which one fits the model.
  4. Give the parents the order number, for the warranty and any return.

Good to know before you buy

  • The SIM and the monthly mobile plan are not included; they are paid to the operator.
  • The watch works once it is paired with the app on a parent's phone. It is not a gift that works straight out of the box without them.
  • Features differ by model. Check the watch's page or ask us before you choose.
  • Whether a child wears a watch that shows their location is for their parents or guardians to decide.

Questions parents ask

What if the child already has a watch or does not like it?

You have 14 days from delivery to withdraw, without giving a reason. Contact us first, then send the watch back with all its accessories. The details are on our returns page.

Is there a monthly fee?

Not to us. The only running cost is the SIM plan, which the parents usually choose and pay to the mobile operator.

Can the child call me too?

Yes, if the parents add your number to the watch contacts in the app. Ask them, and your gift will bring you phone calls too.

Does it come with a warranty?

Yes. It is a genuine Wonlex product from the official distributor in Greece, with the guarantee that applies here and service in Greece. Give the parents the order number.
